Peregrine Falcon Program

Once critically endangered worldwide, peregrine falcons have made a remarkable recovery due to conservation efforts over the last few decades.

Western Pennsylvania Conservancy initiated the Peregrine Recovery Project in Pittsburgh in the early 1990’s, and continues to work with partners today to protect, study, and educate the public about this species. Pittsburgh hosts two nesting pairs of peregrines, one at the Gulf Tower in downtown Pittsburgh and one at the Cathedral of Learning at the University of Pittsburgh.
