Western Pennsylvania Conservancy Works with
Fathers and Children to Plant a
Community Garden Near
Homewood Elementary School
9 a.m. Friday, May 18

(Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.  May 17, 2007). This Friday, May 18, is Bring your Father to School Day. As it has in years past, the Lincoln Technology Academy in Homewood will ask children and their fathers to plant a community garden on the corner of Frankstown and Lincoln Avenues in Homewood, city property that is adjacent to the school.

“It is an absolutely amazing sight to see all these dads and their kids down on their hands and knees tucking tiny flower plants into the ground,” said Judy Wagner, Western Pennsylvania Conservancy’s Senior Director of Community Gardens and Greenspace.  “It's all over in about an hour, but it's a very lively hour indeed. This garden planting offers a very visual sign of hope and commitment from the people who make this community their home.”

The group begins planting at 9 a.m. WPC staff will be at the site by 8 a.m. For more information about the Lincoln Technology Academy planting, contact WPC’s Judy Wagner at 412-586-2390.
