WPC supports robust conservation programs in the Conservation and Forestry Titles of the next farm bill. Read our priorities for the 2007 Farm Bill (PDF).

Abandoned Mine Land Fund Reauthorization

For over two years, WPC has been a key participant in the PA AML Campaign, a coalition of conservation and environmental groups seeking to achieve a reauthorization that is fair for our Commonwealth. In December, the AML fund was reauthorized for a period of 15 years. Under the new formula, Pennsylvania will receive $1.4 billion in funding to address problems related to AML.

State Wildlife Grants

WPC is in favor of increased funding for State Wildlife Grants, as determined in the annual Interior Appropriations bill. For FY08, WPC promotes an allocation of $85 million for this critical program.

Tax Incentives for Conservation

WPC recommends making permanent the expanded tax incentives available to individuals who donate land or interest in land for conservation purposes. WPC supports S. 469 which would accomplish this.
