WPC's Watershed Mini Grant program is now accepting proposals

Grassroots watershed organizations do remarkable work with limited financial resources and members who are largely volunteers.

Collectively, these groups play a pivotal role in improving Western Pennsylvania's water resources. Much of WPC's success in improving water quality throughout our region is the result of its partnerships with these organizations.

Through funding from Dominion, WPC is pleased to be able to extend financial support to grassroots watershed organizations in 38 western and central Pennsylvania counties through its 2008-2009 Watershed Mini Grant program. These grants equip smaller watershed organizations with additional resources to carry out their work.

The grants will award financial support to watershed organizations in Adams, Allegheny, Armstrong, Beaver, Bedford, Blair, Butler, Cambria, Centre, Chester, Clarion, Clearfield, Crawford, Cumberland, Elk, Erie, Fayette, Forest, Franklin, Fulton, Greene, Huntingdon, Indiana, Jefferson, Juniata, Lancaster, Lawrence, McKean, Mercer, Mifflin, Potter, Somerset, Tioga, Venango, Warren, Washington, Westmoreland, and York counties.

Since many watershed organizations have little to no full-time staff, the grant application process is simple and streamlined. The grants can be used to cover operating costs (up to $1,000) or restoration projects and/or organizational promotion and outreach (up to $2,500).

If you are a part of a watershed organization in the 38 county region please contact the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy to receive an application or to ask questions regarding the application and its required information. Grant applications must be postmarked by December 19, 2008 and mailed to:
