As a member of the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy, you stand with us in preserving our region’s unique and important natural places. With the year quickly drawing to a close, now is an ideal time to ensure that you have accomplished your charitable goals for 2008.

Ways to make a year-end gift:

Make a gift of cash or appreciated securities to support today’s conservation efforts. If you hold long-term appreciated stocks, bonds, or mutual funds, they could make a great gift because they may result in extra tax savings for you. Please call your financial advisor or our office for details.

Or, take advantage of the recent Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008 which extended the IRA Charitable Rollover that allows individuals aged 70 ½ or older to donate tax-free gifts of up to $100,000 from their IRA accounts directly to qualified charities such as the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. These contributions count towards the donor’s mandatory IRA withdrawal amount but do not increase adjusted gross income.

You can make a gift by check or credit card or give online via our secure website. All gifts, postmarked or otherwise delivered by December 31, 2008, qualify for tax deductibility in 2008.

Consider including WPC in your long-range estate and financial plans as well. Bequests and charitable gift annuities are just two of the many ways you can provide a legacy of support for our conservation efforts. Many life income plans, such as charitable gift annuities, offer the benefit of an immediate tax deduction in the year of the gift and guaranteed income.

No matter how you choose to make a gift to WPC, your support will help to protect our region's water, land and wildlife, support community gardens and greenspaces, and preserve Fallingwater, Frank Lloyd Wright’s masterwork. Your gift will help to ensure that many generations to come enjoy western Pennsylvania’s exceptional natural places.
