WPC Opens New Juniata and Potomac Regional Office

This month, WPC opened a new office in Hollidaysburg, Blair County to lead the organization’s work in the Juniata and Potomac regions. The new WPC office will manage our conservation efforts, for both land and water, as we work to protect the valuable natural resources of this scenic part of Pennsylvania. The office will serve Bedford, Blair, Centre, Franklin, Fulton, Huntingdon, Juniata, Mifflin, Snyder and Perry counties.

Those who live in or have visited the Juniata and Potomac regions know they are home to picturesque ridges and mountains, as well as significant blocks of forestland. The area includes the Juniata River, a tributary to the Susquehanna River and the Chesapeake Bay, as well as the numerous tributary watersheds of the Potomac River. These watersheds are valuable because they sustain large numbers of globally rare plants and animals, and they provide drinking water and support farmlands.

“The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is committed to protecting exceptional natural areas, and the Juniata and Potomac regions are high priorities for us,” said Tom Saunders, WPC’s President and CEO. “We look forward to continuing our work in these regions to protect pristine lands and streams that provide clean water, sustain wildlife and support farmlands. A local office helps to facilitate the collaboration with local landowners, farmers and other partners that is so critical to our work.”
