Fallingwater Welcomes Loving Frank Author
Author Nancy Horan will help WPC celebrate Frank Lloyd Wright’s 141st birthday on Sunday, June 8, at Fallingwater. In her acclaimed debut novel, Loving Frank, Horan illuminates the love affair between Mamah Borthwick Cheney and Wright and highlights Cheney’s profound influence on Wright. Called “an enthralling first novel” by the New York Times, Loving Frank has been praised for both its elegant writing style and remarkably rich details. It is a fitting tribute to a brilliant architect, a courageous woman, and their timeless love story.
Horan will kick off the birthday festivities, which are open to WPC members
and the general public, with a 3 p.m. discussion of her book in Fallingwater's
Visitors Pavilion. Books will be available for purchase, or you may order a copy
through the Fallingwater Museum Store at www.wpcshop.com.
Guests are then invited to explore the house the American Institute of
Architects voted “the most important building of the 20th century” at their own
pace. Wine and cheese will be served on the bridge leading to Fallingwater. As
dusk descends, a lantern-lit path will lead guests back to the pavilion where
they will enjoy a gourmet picnic dinner and birthday cake with the author.
Tickets for the Loving Frank lecture are $15 per person. Tickets for the
entire evening, including the lecture, wine and cheese at the house and dinner
with the author, are $150 per person. There are limited numbers of tickets
available, so act fast! Friends of Falingwater who attend will recieve a free copy of Loving Frank that has been signed by the author. Proceeds from the
evening support the continued preservation of Fallingwater. Seating is limited
and tickets must be purchased in advance. To order tickets, visit
fallingwater.org or call 724-329-8501.
