Expanding State and County Parks
Erie Bluffs State Park

Pennsylvania’s newest and 117th state park, Erie Bluffs State Park, was established with land acquired by WPC and transferred to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The park is located on 540 acres in Girard and Springfield townships in Erie County. This new state park, which includes areas designated as Important Biological Diversity Areas, will preserve the habitat for rare and endangered plant species and a variety of natural communities while providing public access to scenic vistas from 90-foot bluffs overlooking Lake Erie and permanently preserving one mile of lake shoreline.
Prince Gallitzin State Park
A conservation easement on 490 acres in White Township, Cambria County, was donated to WPC to provide an important buffer for Prince Gallitzin State Park. The property is open to the public for recreational hunting and hiking. (Photo courtesy of the Pennsylvania Department of Natural Resources.)
South Park
Our work to add 14 new acres to South Park, one of Allegheny County’s regional parks, increases the total public land in this popular park to more than 2,000 acres, providing additional recreational opportunities and open space for county residents and visitors to the region.
