A New Season at Fallingwater and a Great Opportunity to Take an In-Depth Tour
Seventy years ago, Frank Lloyd Wright began his design on what was to become one of his most acclaimed works, a summer home for the Kaufmann family that he placed over a waterfall and called Fallingwater. This spring, Fallingwater begins its 42nd season of daily tours open to the public.
Almost 4 million visitors from across the United States and around the world have enjoyed the unique experience of Fallingwater and its surrounding natural area since it opened for public tours in 1964. Visitors have the one of a kind experience of seeing Fallingwater’s cantilevers soar above them, almost defying gravity with a grace unequaled in the history of architecture, and of hearing the roar of Bear Run Creek cascading directly below them.
Tours range from the regular one-hour guided exploration of the house, to the in-depth two-hour tour. In-depth tours include a more detailed exploration of the major rooms of the house. The number of visitors on an in-depth tour is limited to allow the opportunity to visit Fallingwater’s smaller secondary spaces that are not available on the regular tour. Also, still photography, which is not allowed on the regular tour, is permitted during the in-depth tours.

In addition to tours of the famous house, the very popular Land of Fallingwater Nature Hike, a three-hour exploration of the house and grounds is available from April 23 through Oct. 29. This invigorating, fun and educational experience is offered on Saturdays only.
Fallingwater is open Tuesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. It is closed on Mondays. Tour groups are conducted throughout the day but are limited in size so that each visitor gets the optimal experience while at Fallingwater.
