This Web site
has been created to provide a simple, yet comprehensive study
guide covering the many trees that can be found in the Pittsburgh
area. Each descriptive page contains the following elements.
|
| 1. A
title oval containing both the scientific name and the “common” name
for each tree. |
| 2. A
color bar indicating the range of colors that the foliage takes
on throughout the different seasons. |
| 3. A
full-color photograph of a leaf from the tree. |
| 4. A
brief description of the tree, its size, leaf configuration,
habitat, etc. and, where possible, specific items of interest
as
they relate the tree to the Pittsburgh community. |
| 5. An
illustration of the tree structure to help with the identification
during the late autumn and winter. |
