Leaf Color Range

This variety of maple serves both as a tree and a shrub. Difficult to root, but if successful, is a beautiful tree with its wonderful peeling cinnamon colored bark, particularly in a snowy winter setting. While most maples have simple leaves this one is one is of the compound, three leaf maples. A fine example can be found in the outdoor garden at Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Height: 20’-30’ and as wide. Oval to rounded in outline.
Leaves: 3”-6” long opposite usually in groups of 3. Flat dark or bluish green in summer, changing to bronze or red in autumn.
Habitat: First introduced in our country in the early 1900s. Native to China.
