Stewartias
are known to be the best of the woody, flowering shrubs. One
of the finest examples in Pittsburgh can be viewed at Phipps
Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. They are wonderful garden
plants producing lots of large white flowers when in bloom.

| Leaves: 2”-3-1/2” long,
1-1/2”-2-1/4” wide. Alternate simple. Dark green
on top and beneath, turning yellow, red, or dark red in autumn. |
