This
dense, fast-growing pine is one of the more common ornamental
trees. It is often used in making weather barriers and is tolerant
of city smoke, dry soils and dust. It is native to central
and southern Europe as well as in northwest Africa. Its trunk
is usually straight with a rounded, spreading crown of dark
green foliage.

shiny dark green. |
| Habitat: Grows
in all but the hottest, coldest and driest regions. Widely planted
across the United States. In Pittsburgh, this pine
is infected with a tip blight disease. |
