This maple
can be counted on to be one of the first trees to leaf out
in the spring, at which time it also features fragrant,
creamy-white flowers. This tree has gained popularity in Pittsburgh
as a street tree in areas with overhead utility lines. Because
of its relatively short height at maturity, it is less likely
to interfere with overhead wires. It can also be used as a
tree or a shrub in small yards, or in raised planters.
