Featured Community Greenspace Sponsor
The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy is pleased to recognize Direct Energy of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for their continuous support throughout the last three years. Direct Energy has provided significant financial support and countless volunteer hours toward our community flower gardens, Downtown greening efforts and the TreeVitalize Pittsburgh project.

Investment means more than just financial assistance. Direct Energy aims to engage communities throughout North America by supporting charitable organizations through corporate donations, strategic sponsorships, local fundraisers, in-kind contributions, and employee volunteering. Direct Energy is one of North America’s largest competitive energy suppliers of electricity, natural gas and related services, with approximately 400 people working out of its Pittsburgh office, which serves as the North American headquarters of Direct Energy Business and the North East division of Direct Energy Residential.
Direct Energy is committed to environmental sustainability by understanding, managing and reducing the environmental and ecological impacts of its activities through innovation, technology and culture change. By supporting revitalization efforts in Pittsburgh, Direct Energy volunteers helped clean and green the streets of Pittsburgh.
A highlight of our partnership in 2010 was working together on PARK(ing) Day — an international event to dramatize the impact of greening in urban spaces.
Direct Energy volunteers and WPC staff transformed the parking lot on 8th Street and Penn Avenue in Downtown Pittsburgh into a green oasis, exhibiting trees, planters, hanging baskets and a green sitting area in a very unexpected location.
“Direct Energy believes that we have a responsibility to support the communities in which we live and work. By investing our resources, sharing our knowledge and volunteering our time, we believe that we can create valuable connections and create positive change”. - Maura Clark, President of Direct Energy Business
